Meditation
is a practice that people use
to relax, release tension and
take their mind to a higher state
of awareness. Meditation uses
the ability to make your mind
completely calm and peaceful.
This age old technique is used
by religions and people the world
over. In different parts of the
world meditation is used for
different reasons and is very
popular. Some of the religions
that incorporate mediation include
Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism
and Judaism.
Year after year the demands
and stress that our culture encounters
seems to grow. Some people feel
that their time is a commodity
and there is never enough to
go around. Being constantly stressed
out causes us to feel tired,
grumpy and frustrated about small
day to day functions. Being able
to take a few moments a day to
focus and let stressful feelings
go could make a difference in
one's life. The more you train
your mind to meditate the more
pure (stress free) happiness
will come into your life. The
more you mediate the more you
will become happier, less attached
to material things and more aware
of the world around you.
Meditation is a simple way to
reset the minds clock and restore
balance to your life. Meditation
can also help us get more in
sync with our own mind. We can
figure out how to stay in touch
with our feelings when not meditating.
Being able to be aware of our
thoughts and feelings when in
day to day life is the key to
being in control of the negative,
stressful and unwanted feelings.
Adding this simple routine to
your daily functions can affect
your life in all aspects and
areas.
There are many different books,
audio programs, and products
that can help you evolve and
become better at meditation.
The best way to practice the
art of meditation is to sit with
good posture in either a chair
or on the floor cross legged.
A cushion that is taller at the
back and shorter at the front
could also be used to elevate
your spine slightly off the floor.
Be sure if you are sitting on
the floor that your legs are
crossed which will help your
back to stay aligned.
Breathing is also a very important
component of meditation. Once
you have the correct posture
you can start counting in your
head to four on your inhale and
four on your exhale to start.
Once you have established a free
flowing breath you can then let
the breath fade away into a natural
reflex. Once you do this if you
can keep your mind clear of intruding
thoughts you will feel the meditation
take effect. You can meditate
anywhere from 10 minutes to one
hour. The more you practice the
better you will get and the better
you get the more useful the meditation
will become.
Having the ability to take time
out of your day to relieve your
mind of thought, align your spine
and correct your breathing will
improve your life in many ways.
Meditation has been used for
many years by many different
cultures all over the world.
Meditation is an easily learned
discipline that may change your
life.
